Brian Roberts MIH is the Managing Consultant of Number One Consulting. A Member of The Institute of Hospitality, he has over 20 years experience in the hospitality sector. Brian has had a successful career both operationally in hotels, and also in the field of Quality Assessment, having been a Senior Assessor with G4S Assessment Services. He has a deep understanding of the challenges facing accommodation providers, and seeks solutions that are compatible with each individual business. Brian has also been a judge for the Hotel Cateys, and the VisitEngland Excellence Awards.
Throughout his career, Brian has set great store by motivating and encouraging others to fulfil their potential. He has successfully mentored and trained Colleagues, and been instrumental in their gaining promotion and career progression.
Mike Turner FIH is an Associate Consultant, and a Fellow of The Institute of Hospitality. Mike has worked for a range of companies, including Trusthouse Forte, Sutcliffe Catering and Shire Inns, where he was Company Training Manager. He is a highly respected figure in the industry, having been Head of Faculty (Hospitality, Catering and Bakery) at City of Bristol College, and Senior Lecturer in Hospitality Management (Food & Beverage Specialist) at Plymouth University. He was also an Associate Inspector with the Training Standards Council, and an External Verifier with City & Guilds.
Mike is committed to the effective sharing of information to help operators and individuals to achieve their goals and improve their performance.
Steve Martin MIH is an Associate Consultant with over 30 years management experience in the travel sector of the hospitality industry. He has held senior positions in the on-board service departments of airlines, together with similar positions in global airline catering service providers, and he has extensive experience in the private sector with companies such as British Airways PLC and Gate Gourmet International. His roles have included Regional Catering Manager–Americas (for BA), Global Account Manager-Virgin Atlantic Airways and Sales & Marketing Manager UK & Ireland (both for Gate Gourmet),Divisional Manager - Ocado (for Airport Logistics Ltd), General Manager Operations and Commercial – Newrest UK Ltd (also for Airport Logistics Ltd) and Associate Assessor for the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP).
Steve brings opportunities for companies to benefit from his experience and competencies in the disciplines of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Auditing & Assessing, Menu Development, Man-Management and Resource Development, Recruitment and Deployment of resources, and Labour & Process Control with focus on efficiency and profit maximisation.
